Tigers End Season at 1st Game at Regionals

On Thursday in Casper the Tigers of Rock Springs played against the Braves of Star Valley. This was a re-match of a game less than a week ago in Afton. This time the Tigers played so much better than the previous time. The first half was scoreless but saw the Tigers have some genuine chances on frame including Riley Yerkovich's shot. But the score would remain zero to zero after 40 minutes. In the second half the Tigers took more control of the match playing the majority of it in the attacking side of the field. But the match changed with just 7 minutes left when off of a rebound from the crossbar a Star Valley player kicked the ball into the net and broke the scoreless tie. The Tigers rallied in the final 7 minutes to try to find the equalizing goal but it was not to be. The Tigers lost in the elimination match to the Braves by a score of 1 to 0 and thus ended their season on the field at Natrona County High School. This was a difficult season in many ways for the Tigers who strug...

Tigers Rally Late to Beat Red Devils

On Tuesday in Evanston the Tigers found themselves down early to the Red Devils. Evanston scored in the 3rd and 7th minutes to take an early 2 - 0 lead. The Red Devils were very aggressive and used this to find holes in the Tiger's defense. The Tigers and the Red Devils could not mount much offense in the rest of the 1st half and the score remained 2 - 0 in favor of Evanston at the half. The second half saw the Tigers take more control of the match and use the width of the field to find their way through the defense. But they still could not find the net. Tides started to change when in the 70th minute the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick. Unfortunetly the kick was a little high and hit the crossbar. But Rock Springs kept on fighting and found their way back into the match when they scored on their second penalty kick in the 74th minute. The kick was put in by Luke Aust. Three minutes later Kortny Lancaster scored off of direct free kick from about 45 yards away by perfectly plac...

Tigers Lose to Riverton in Overtime

On Saturday in Senior Night in Rock Springs the Tigers played their last home match at Crossroads Field versus the #2 ranked Riverton Wolverines. The Tigers were looking to avenge their earlier embarrassing result against the Wolverines. The Tigers played a great match even with a lot of players out of position and some young guys filling in for some veterans missing and hurt. The scoring started by the Wolverines in the 34th minute when Riverton was awarded a penalty kick and converted it. The half time score was 1 - 0 in favor of Riverton. The Tigers played better in the second half than in the first half and had several decent chances to tie the match. A free kick by Kortny Lancaster in the 75th minute from around 45 yards away roofed the Riverton keeper in the top right corner and equaled the score. Neither team was able to score in the last 5 minutes, mainly due to some strong goal keeping from both Gus Wagner of Rock Springs and Riverton's goalkeeper. The teams played overtim...

Mustangs Beat the Tigers

On Friday in Rock Springs the Tigers hosted the Natrona County Mustangs in a 4a West soccer battle. The conditions for the math were snowy at the start and sloppy at the end of the match. The Mustangs got off to an early start with a goal in the 6th minute. The goal was from a corner kick where the ball seemed to bounce and ricochet off of several players on both teams before it went in. The second goal for the Mustangs was in the 33rd minute when a shot was placed in the corner on the ground of the goal and Tyler Wilkinson was not able to stop it. The half time score was 2 - 0. The Tigers were out of sync all game long connecting passes and getting involved in the offense. The last goal of the match was scored in the 46th minute when Gus Wagner had knocked the ball away and hit a Tiger defender and then carried into the goal for an own goal. The Tigers played without leading scorer Storie Ratcliff who is sidelined with an ankle injury for a little while. The final score was NC 3 and R...
