Rock Springs Tiger Soccer

On Saturday the Varsity Rock Springs Tiger Soccer team started their season. Their first match of the day was against the Powell Panthers at 11:00am. The match started well as the Tigers scored first in the 4th minute when Storie Ratcliff scored off of a great ball sent by Jesse Love. Powell was next on the board when they scored off of a free kick in the 20th minute. The scored was tied at 1 a piece at the half. The second half saw the Tigers recapture the lead at 2 - 1 in the 73rd minute when Pat Walker sent a nice cross into the box that Storie Ratcliff headed in. The Tiger lead was not for long as the Panthers scored in the 76th minute off of a corner kick. The match ended in a tie at 2 - 2. Because it was jamboree format there was no overtime or tie breaker. Several Tiger players made their first varsity start such as; Jesse Love, Austin Lever and Camilo Anturi Flores. Mother Nature threw our early season for a loop. The snow storm has cancelled the JV Jamboree scheduled for Saturday March 20th. It will not be rescheduled. The varsity team is still planning on going to the Worland Jamboree but will leave early Saturday instead of Friday night. Their first match was scheduled for 9am has been moved back to 11am. We don't know what else the Jamboree holds for us for opponents or times.

Monday March 8th will be the first practice for the 2010 edition of the RSHS Tiger Soccer Team. The practice will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and will be held at the football field behind White Mountain Elementary field. All players need to remember their paperwork (physical, activities release, emergency card and proof of insurance) and their equipment (soccer cleats, shin guards, outdoor clothes and water). In the case of inclement weather, could we please have the students listen to the announcements at school or contact Coach Atkinson at the high school on Monday after lunch (room 304a).

What you need for the 1 st practice Paperwork Œ - Physical - no more than a year old (if you participated in another school sport this school year your physical is still good and on file in the office).  - Activities Release - this is the back page of the orange packet with all the rules for athletes. You and your parents need to sign and date it (if you participated in another school sport this school year your activities release is on file in the office). Ž - Emergency Card - this is the small card with emergency numbers and instructions (even if you participated in another sport you should fill-out another emergency card).  - Proof of Insurance - you have to complete the insurance information on your emergency card, if you do not have insurance you will need to purchase some. Insurance through the school district would be your best bet. Looking back at the past decade there were a lot of RSHS Tiger Soccer Victories and we tried to find the top 10 wins and rank them for fun. 10) 2002 - RS 1 - Laramie 0 - match at Cheyenne WY This was an elimination match at regionals and proved that the RS Tigers were a force in Wyoming soccer. 9) 2006 - RS 3 - Green River 1 - match at Green River WY This was Green River's senior night and the Tigers ruined it and their rivals chances to earn a good seed at the Regional tournament. 8) 2007 - RS 4 - Green River 0 - match at Rock Springs WY This was Rock Spring's first win of the Sweetwater Cup (trophy started in 2006). For fun we looked at the stats of all players that we had of record , their post season recognitions (All-state, All-conference, Team Awards), if they were on the RSHS Career Top 10 lists, if they moved on and played intercollegiate soccer and compiled those stats and made a list of which players made our 2000 - 2009 (All Decade Team).
