Top Ten Tiger Victories of the Decade

Looking back at the past decade there were a lot of RSHS Tiger Soccer Victories and we tried to find the top 10 wins and rank them for fun.

10) 2002 - RS 1 - Laramie 0 - match at Cheyenne WY
This was an elimination match at regionals and proved that the RS Tigers were a force in Wyoming soccer.

9) 2006 - RS 3 - Green River 1 - match at Green River WY
This was Green River's senior night and the Tigers ruined it and their rivals chances to earn a good seed at the Regional tournament.

8) 2007 - RS 4 - Green River 0 - match at Rock Springs WY
This was Rock Spring's first win of the Sweetwater Cup (trophy started in 2006). The Tigers dominated from the first whistle and blow out Wolves.

7) 2005 - RS 4 - Gillette 1 - match at Sheridan WY
The Tigers score four goals in the second half to route the Camels and claim the 3rd place trophy at the state tournament.

6) 2008 - RS 2 - Green River 0 - match at Rock Springs WY
Tigers take the Sweetwater Cup again. Dominate the match against Green River and shut them out.

5) 2009 - RS 2 - Riverton 0 - match at Sheridan WY
This was an elimination match at the state tournament. Gilbert Gonzalez scored twice to help the Tigers win.

4) 2008 - RS 2 - Natrona County 1 (OT) 0 - match at Evanston WY
This was a Regional Semi-Final match. Match tied after regulation, Kevin Gold hits a penalty kick with about 7 seconds left to win the match.

3) 2001 - RS 3 - Riverton 2 - match at Green River WY
Tigers win against the Wolverines in the state semi-finals and propel the Tigers into their first state championship match, which they would later lose in overtime to East.

2) 2004 - RS 3 - East 1 - match at Rock Springs WY
This was the South Region championship match and saw the Tiger's dominate the previous #1 ranked T-Birds, only conceding a late PK goal to lose the shut out.

1) 2005 - RS 3 - Central 2 - match at Laramie WY
In this match the Tigers faced off against the Indians in an elimination match at Regionals. Both teams had the lead in regulation but it was tied 2 to 2. No team scored in OT and this match went to penalty kicks. RS keeper CJ Dana stopped 2 kicks from Cheyenne, and the Tigers had the victory after 4 kicks. This is Cheyenne Central's only time in their soccer program history to not make it to state.

Spring Break and Schedule Changes

The games versus Green River that were originally scheduled during our Spring Break have been re-scheduled. We will now have the JV game on March 30 at 5pm in Green River with the Varsity Game being March 31st at 5pm in Rock Springs. We still have our two home matches against the Casper schools (KW and NC) the first weekend of spring break (4/3, 4/4). These matches will be very important for our seeding at regionals. The team also is scheduled to practice on Monday and Tuesday of spring break, but will get the rest of the week off. Please make your family plans so that the can coincide with the team plans. The changes to the game schedule and the practice schedule have been changed on their own links, see the links to your right.

1st Practice is Monday

Monday March 8th will be the first practice for the 2010 edition of the RSHS Tiger Soccer Team. The practice will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and will be held at the football field behind White Mountain Elementary field. All players need to remember their paperwork (physical, activities release, emergency card and proof of insurance) and their equipment (soccer cleats, shin guards, outdoor clothes and water). In the case of inclement weather, could we please have the students listen to the announcements at school or contact Coach Atkinson at the high school on Monday after lunch (room 304a).

Rivalry Games Postponed

Due to the snow and the inability to prepare our fields we had to postpone both the Varsity and JV matches with Green River earlier this week. These games will be re-scheduled at the earliest chance that we can fit it into our schedules. We are still hopeful that we will be able to play our next two home games against Natrona County on Friday April 3rd - JV - 3:00pm and Varsity 5:00pm and against Kelly Walsh on Saturday April 4 th - JV - 10:00am and Varsity 12:00pm.
