Tigers Lose First Round at State


On Thursday May 21st the Tigers squared off against the #1 team in the state, the Cheyenne Central Indians, at the Big Horn Equestrian Center in Sheridan WY. The Tigers had a good strategy and good execution however the Indian were a more talented squad and came away with the victory. The Indians scored in the 7th minute and then sneaked two more goals in right before the half in the 35th and 37th minute. The Tigers down 3 to zero at half regrouped and played hard and inspired in the second half but could not score on the stingy Central defense. The Indians scored their fourth and final goal in the 58th minute. The loss means the Tigers enter into the consolation portion of the tournament and the best they can finish is fifth place at the 2009 State Soccer Cup. The Tigers record falls to ten wins and eight losses. Schedule Update

We have two schedule updates for the spring 2009 season to announce. First of all the game versus Laramie in Laramie on Friday 3/27/09 has been canceled. This game was canceled due to a scheduling conflict that Laramie High had. We are working to find a replacement game on short notice for this week. We will update when plans are secure. Second of all our game at Star Valley that was on Wednesday April 22nd has been changed. The game will now be played in Star Valley on Friday April 17th. The times are still the same at 3:00pm JV and 5:00pm Varsity

Tigers fall in OT to Wolves

Rock Springs jumped to an early lead in the first leg of the Sweetwater cup for a 1 - 0 lead in just the first couple of minutes. The Tigers goal was scored by Austin Mivshek with a Kolby Vasa assist. Green River evened up the score shortly after. The Tigers scored again in the first half after an Erik Mata goal from a Kyle Howe assist. At the half the Tigers had a 2 to 1 lead. By the 71st minute the Wolves scored twice to take a 3 to 2 lead. Ron Halstead tied the game up from a Gilbert Gonzalez assist in the 73rd minute. Regulation ended at 3 goals a piece, and the two teams played two 10 minute overtime periods. Green River scored in the first of the two overtime periods and hung on for the rest of overtime and the 4 to 3 win. Varsity (0 - 3 - 2) Next up for the JV and Varsity at Casper Natrona Friday at 3:00pm and 5:00pm
