On Tuesday at a blistery Crossroads Park the Tigers outlasted a very feisty Evanston Red Devil team for a RS victory 4 - 3. The Tigers got on the board first when a Storie Ratcliff kicked ball was deflected off of an Evanston player and was mishandled by the Red Devil keeper. Officially this was scored as an own goal against the Devils this was in the 14th minute of play. The Tigers scored their second and final goal of the half when Gilbert Gonzalez booted a 25 yard shot that found the top corner of the net in the 19th minute. The Tigers took a 2 - 0 lead into the half and had to go against the wind in the second half. The Devils scored first in the last half at the 43rd minute mark to cut the lead to 2 - 1. The Tigers scored twice on a goal from Storie Ratcliff and a converted penalty kick from Erick Mata for what seemed like a safe lead of four to one. Ratcliff's goal was in the 63rd minute with the assist being credited by Garrett Hay. The Mata penalty kick goal was in the 60th minute. Credit goes to the Red Devils who kept on fighting and scored twice more, goals were on a corner kick (66th) and a free kick (74th). But the Tigers were able to stop them down the stretch and hung on for the 4 - 3 victory. The Tiger's record is now 8 - 5 - 0 and 6 - 3 - 0 in conference. Man of the Match: Erik Corley (sub from JV team played well including drawing the penalty for the 3rd goal).
The JV Tigers had a little trouble finding the net in the first half against Evanston and only had a 1 - 0 lead at the break. With some added effort they were able to score three times in the second half and blanked the Red Devils by a score of 4 - 0. The JV has matched a team record for most wins in a season with nine. Their overall record is 9 - 1 - 2.
