Riverton, Wyoming- The Tigers started sluggishly against Lander on Saturday morning. Lander controlled the game from the first whistle and scored in the eleventh minute, as the Lander keeper launched a huge kick that was chased down and scored over Gus Wagner. Taking a corner kick from Josh Hall, Rolando Gallarza scored the first goal of his Tiger career by placing a laser in the lower right corner, in the sixteenth minute. One minute later, Santiago Flores put the Tigers up for good, as he scored on another corner kick from Josh Hall. Lander put scored another goal in the 43rd minute to tighten the score, but solid defense and goalkeeping secured Rock Springs first win of the season. Gus Wagner earned his first win as keeper, and the Tigers moved on to play Powell. Man of the Match- Josh Hall, two assists.
Game two started immediately after the first game, the Tigers again started slowly. Powell, only had eight players, so both teams played eight vs. eight, which might have led to Tigers confusion. Powell, scored early off a corner kick in the 7th minute and followed with another goal in the eleventh minute to lead 2-0. The Tigers again came from behind as Sandy Duncan, earned his first assist of the season by feeding Josh Hall in the 20th minute to make it 2-1. Eric Corley tied the score in the 24th minute, as he took the ball the length of the field and scored unassisted. The Tigers asserted themselves in the second half and controlled the tempo early. Two minutes into the half, Dalton Grube made a beautiful pass to Tyler Legerski, who hammered the ball into the upper left corner to score the game winner. The Tigers lost a beautiful goal by Todd Gray, on a questionable offsides call, however they held on to win again 3-2. Sean Parker earned his first win as keeper and the Tigers improved to 2-0. Man of the Match- Tyler Legerski, scoring game winning goal.
The weary Tigers played the Buffalo Bisons in their final game of the day. Buffalo, was much older and much more physical than the young Tigers and controlled the tempo early in the game. It looked like the Tigers were in trouble, as Buffalo played on the Tigers side of the field, but inspired goalkeeping by Gus Wagner, kept them from scoring. The feisty Tigers settled down and dug in and fought back into the game. With quick, efficient passing the Tigers began to counterattack and pressure the Bison goal. Dakota Schnieder and Eric Corley both had great looks at the goal, but couldn't get it past the keeper and the half ended 0-0. In the second half, both teams had some good looks and played well, but both defenses were stout enough to keep each other from scoring. The Tiger defense, led by Alex Arambel, withstood the Bisons and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. So, the Tigers ended the day 2-0-1 and showed great heart and determination, which is a trademark of a solid team. Man of the Match- Gus Wagner 13 saves and a shutout.
