Tigers Rally Late to Beat Red Devils

On Tuesday in Evanston the Tigers found themselves down early to the Red Devils. Evanston scored in the 3rd and 7th minutes to take an early 2 - 0 lead. The Red Devils were very aggressive and used this to find holes in the Tiger's defense. The Tigers and the Red Devils could not mount much offense in the rest of the 1st half and the score remained 2 - 0 in favor of Evanston at the half.
The second half saw the Tigers take more control of the match and use the width of the field to find their way through the defense. But they still could not find the net. Tides started to change when in the 70th minute the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick. Unfortunetly the kick was a little high and hit the crossbar. But Rock Springs kept on fighting and found their way back into the match when they scored on their second penalty kick in the 74th minute. The kick was put in by Luke Aust. Three minutes later Kortny Lancaster scored off of direct free kick from about 45 yards away by perfectly placing the ball over the hands of the Evanston goalie. With the score tied the Tigers did not wait for overtime they found the back of the net one more time. The game winning goal was in the 79th minute of play and was scored when Jesse Love sent a diagonal through ball to Riley Yerkovich who ran onto the ball past the last defender and beat the keeper in the bottom right corner. Time ran out shortly after the goal and the Tigers had a 3 - 2 victory. The win moves the Tigers record to 4 - 8 - 1 and 3 - 6 - 0 in the 4A West Conference. The victory also means that the Tigers will face off against Star Valley during the elimination match at Regional so see who goes to the state tournament.

Spring Break and Schedule Changes

The games versus Green River that were originally scheduled during our Spring Break have been re-scheduled. We will now have the JV game on March 30 at 5pm in Green River with the Varsity Game being March 31st at 5pm in Rock Springs. We still have our two home matches against the Casper schools (KW and NC) the first weekend of spring break (4/3, 4/4). These matches will be very important for our seeding at regionals. The team also is scheduled to practice on Monday and Tuesday of spring break, but will get the rest of the week off. Please make your family plans so that the can coincide with the team plans. The changes to the game schedule and the practice schedule have been changed on their own links, see the links to your right.
