Tigers Win Second Leg with Green River and the Cup

On Monday in Rock Springs the 2nd Leg of the Sweetwater Cup and the second clash of Sweetwater rivals occurred. It was one of the most entertaining matches ever in this series with two evenly matched teams the action was end line to end line and side line to side line. The lone goal was scored in the 29th minute when a long throw in by Tevin Beaver was deflected by a Green River defender and was out of the reach of the Green River keeper. Both teams had some legitimate chances after the own goal but never team was able to find the back of the net again. The statistics show just how close these two games were in this series this year. In the two games Rock Springs had 26 shots and 2 goals. Green River had 27 shots and 2 goals. Bryce Kalista of Rock Springs had 16 saves while the keeper from Green River had 16 saves.

The criteria for tie breakers for the Sweetwater Cup state, if the teams are still tied after tallying points for wins and adding the score of both games together the third tie breaker is whichever team scores the most road goals (or goals on the opponents field). This third tie-breaker had to be used this year to determine the Sweetwater Cup Champions. Due to the fact that Rock Springs scored once in Green River and GR did not score in RS. This tie-breaker goes to the Tigers. Rock Springs claims the Sweetwater Cup for the third consecutive year. This improves the Tigers record to 6 - 4 - 0 and 4 - 2 - 0 in conference. It places the Tigers in a tie with Green River for second place in the 4A West Conference. Man of the Match: Taylor Chesnovar (for stepping into a starters role and playing 80 superb minutes for the Tigers)

Up next for the Tigers: at Casper versus Natrona County on Friday May 1st. JV at 4:00pm and Varsity at 6:00pm
