Tigers Survive Trip to Star Valley

On Friday in Afton, the Tigers defeated the Star Valley Braves in overtime by a score of 2 to 1. The first half was scoreless and the Braves scored first in the 48th minute. The Tigers responded with a goal in the 49th minute by Seth Hawk, who was assisted by Erick Mata. There was no more scoring in regulation and the Tigers and Braves went to overtime. In the first of two 10 minute periods, the Tiger took the lead with a Ron Halstead goal, assisted by Seth Hawk. The Tigers were able to protect the lead and take the victory. With the victory the Tigers know they will not finish lower than third in the region. The Tigers fate will be determined when Kelly Walsh and Natrona square off against each other tomorrow (game originally scheduled for Friday). If the Tigers end up in second place in the region they will receive the automatic birth to state and will play Friday at 5:00pm versus the winner of the NC and Star Valley game. If the Tigers fall to third then they will face Star Valley again on Thursday at 5:00pm with the winner advancing to state.

Spring Break and Schedule Changes

The games versus Green River that were originally scheduled during our Spring Break have been re-scheduled. We will now have the JV game on March 30 at 5pm in Green River with the Varsity Game being March 31st at 5pm in Rock Springs. We still have our two home matches against the Casper schools (KW and NC) the first weekend of spring break (4/3, 4/4). These matches will be very important for our seeding at regionals. The team also is scheduled to practice on Monday and Tuesday of spring break, but will get the rest of the week off. Please make your family plans so that the can coincide with the team plans. The changes to the game schedule and the practice schedule have been changed on their own links, see the links to your right.

1st Practice is Monday

Monday March 8th will be the first practice for the 2010 edition of the RSHS Tiger Soccer Team. The practice will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and will be held at the football field behind White Mountain Elementary field. All players need to remember their paperwork (physical, activities release, emergency card and proof of insurance) and their equipment (soccer cleats, shin guards, outdoor clothes and water). In the case of inclement weather, could we please have the students listen to the announcements at school or contact Coach Atkinson at the high school on Monday after lunch (room 304a).

Rivalry Games Postponed

Due to the snow and the inability to prepare our fields we had to postpone both the Varsity and JV matches with Green River earlier this week. These games will be re-scheduled at the earliest chance that we can fit it into our schedules. We are still hopeful that we will be able to play our next two home games against Natrona County on Friday April 3rd - JV - 3:00pm and Varsity 5:00pm and against Kelly Walsh on Saturday April 4 th - JV - 10:00am and Varsity 12:00pm.
