Tigers Get Back to Winning Ways

On Saturday in Casper the Rock Springs Tigers squared off against the Kelly Walsh Trojans. It was a rematch of the Tigers first conference game when they defeated the Trojans one to zero. On Saturday the Trojans took early control of the game and show many first half opportunities when they had 10 corner kicks in the first half. However the Tiger defense was tough including freshman goalkeeper Tyler Wilkinson and did not allow Kelly Walsh to score. The Tiger's Gilbert Gonzalez scored the first goal in the 36th minute of the game off of a Garrett Hay assist. The score was Tigers one and Trojans zero at the half.

The Tigers came out of the halftime with added emotion and intensity and were able to gain back control of the possession and tempo of the game. The Tigers tallied twice more in the second half both scores coming from Storie Ratcliff. Storie's first score coming off of a free kick by Gilbert Gonzalez that he headed in and the second coming off of a good pass from Garrett Hay that Ratcliff was able to put past the Kelly Walsh keeper. Tyler Wilkinson and the stingy Tiger defense was able to keep the Trojans away from the net in the second half also for the Tigers fifth shutout of the season. This improves the Varsity record to 7 - 5 - 0 and 5 - 3 - 0 in conference. Man of the Match: Storie Ratcliff (2 Goals)

The JV Tigers missed some good chances to score against the JV Trojans. Both teams played a well fought match. The JV Tigers and the JV Trojans were only able to both earn a 0 - 0 draw. The JV still has a stellar record on the year with 8 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties.

Up Next for the Tigers: Tuesday versus the Evanston Red Devils in Rock Springs at Crossroads Field. JV starts at 3:00pm and Varsity at 5:00pm.

Schedule Update

We have two schedule updates for the spring 2009 season to announce. First of all the game versus Laramie in Laramie on Friday 3/27/09 has been canceled. This game was canceled due to a scheduling conflict that Laramie High had. We are working to find a replacement game on short notice for this week. We will update when plans are secure. Second of all our game at Star Valley that was on Wednesday April 22nd has been changed. The game will now be played in Star Valley on Friday April 17th. The times are still the same at 3:00pm JV and 5:00pm Varsity

Tigers fall in OT to Wolves

Rock Springs jumped to an early lead in the first leg of the Sweetwater cup for a 1 - 0 lead in just the first couple of minutes. The Tigers goal was scored by Austin Mivshek with a Kolby Vasa assist. Green River evened up the score shortly after. The Tigers scored again in the first half after an Erik Mata goal from a Kyle Howe assist. At the half the Tigers had a 2 to 1 lead. By the 71st minute the Wolves scored twice to take a 3 to 2 lead. Ron Halstead tied the game up from a Gilbert Gonzalez assist in the 73rd minute. Regulation ended at 3 goals a piece, and the two teams played two 10 minute overtime periods. Green River scored in the first of the two overtime periods and hung on for the rest of overtime and the 4 to 3 win. Varsity (0 - 3 - 2) Next up for the JV and Varsity at Casper Natrona Friday at 3:00pm and 5:00pm
