Tigers Down the Braves in Afton

On Friday in Afton the RS Tigers were able to defeat there 4A West rival the Star Valley Braves by a score of 2 to 1. Pat Walker scored first for the Tigers off of a long throw in by Tevin Beaver. Walker headed the ball to the back post to beat the Brave's keeper, that was in the 13th minute. The Tigers last goal came from a nice pass from Garrett Hay to Storie Ratcliff, who put the ball in the back of the net in the 35th minute. The Tigers had a two to zero lead at the half. Star Valley would not quit and inched a little closer when they headed a ball in from a corner kick in the 54th minute. But the Tigers continued to play tough defense and kept the Braves from scoring again to preserve the 2 to 1 win. This moves the Varsity record to 4 - 2 - 0 and 3 - 0 - 0 in conference. Man of the Match: Bryce Kalista (10 saves).

In the JV matchup the Tigers scored early and often as they defeated the JV Braves by a score of 5 to 1. The record for the JV team is now 4 - 1 - 1.

Schedule Update

We have two schedule updates for the spring 2009 season to announce. First of all the game versus Laramie in Laramie on Friday 3/27/09 has been canceled. This game was canceled due to a scheduling conflict that Laramie High had. We are working to find a replacement game on short notice for this week. We will update when plans are secure. Second of all our game at Star Valley that was on Wednesday April 22nd has been changed. The game will now be played in Star Valley on Friday April 17th. The times are still the same at 3:00pm JV and 5:00pm Varsity

Tigers fall in OT to Wolves

Rock Springs jumped to an early lead in the first leg of the Sweetwater cup for a 1 - 0 lead in just the first couple of minutes. The Tigers goal was scored by Austin Mivshek with a Kolby Vasa assist. Green River evened up the score shortly after. The Tigers scored again in the first half after an Erik Mata goal from a Kyle Howe assist. At the half the Tigers had a 2 to 1 lead. By the 71st minute the Wolves scored twice to take a 3 to 2 lead. Ron Halstead tied the game up from a Gilbert Gonzalez assist in the 73rd minute. Regulation ended at 3 goals a piece, and the two teams played two 10 minute overtime periods. Green River scored in the first of the two overtime periods and hung on for the rest of overtime and the 4 to 3 win. Varsity (0 - 3 - 2) Next up for the JV and Varsity at Casper Natrona Friday at 3:00pm and 5:00pm
