1st Leg of Sweetwater Cup goes to the Wolves

On Thursday in Green River the rivalry between the RS Tigers and GR Wolves started again on the pitch. This is a great game to watch and had two evenly matched teams playing against each other. The first 40 minutes were fast paced with both teams seeing some chances at the goal but both teams coming away empty handed. The second half was a different story as the Tigers scored first when Matt Lehman collected a ball sent to him from Garrett Hay. Matt was able to put the ball in the past the Wolves keeper for the first score of the match. Two minutes later the game saw another change when the Tigers were called for a foul in the penalty area resulting in a penalty kick for the Wolves. Green River scored on this chance to even the scoreline at one with thirty two minutes remaining. The Wolves scored on a rocket of a shot that found the underside of the crossbar and the back of the net in the 55th minute. The action continued to be fast as furious for the remainder of the match. The Tigers thought that they had the equalizing goal with seven minutes remaining but it was called off due to offsides. This drops the Varsity record to 4 - 4 - 0 and 3 - 2 - 0 in conference. It also moves the Tigers to third in the conference behind Natrona and Green River. Man of the Match: Cody Rall (Great Play and a Physical presence on the pitch)
Up Next for the Tigers: Saturday at Worland versus Powell - JV 3:00pm and Varsity 5:00pm
