Tigers Drop Two in the Capitol City

On Saturday the varsity Tigers played both the Cheyenne Central Indians and the Cheyenne East Thunderbirds. In the first game the Tigers were handled by the Indians 3 to 0. They were down 1 to 0 at the half and struggled to find offense throughout the entire game. In the second full 80 minute game of the day, the Tigers fell to the T-birds 3 to 2. East got on the board first, the Tigers answered with a goal by Austin Mivshek from a free kick by Gilbert Gonzalez. East was able to get another score before the half was over and lead 2 to 1 at the break. The Tigers looked a lot better in the second game but allowed another East goal to go down 3 to 1. Ron Halstead got a hit on the ball in the closing seconds from a free kick from Kevin Gold to pull the Tigers closer at 3 to 2. The Tigers missed some genuine scoring chances in this game including a half field shot from Kevin Gold that hit the crossbar.

Up Next for the Varsity team will be the first game versus Green River in Green River on Tuesday at 5:00pm. (weather permitting)

Schedule Update

We have two schedule updates for the spring 2009 season to announce. First of all the game versus Laramie in Laramie on Friday 3/27/09 has been canceled. This game was canceled due to a scheduling conflict that Laramie High had. We are working to find a replacement game on short notice for this week. We will update when plans are secure. Second of all our game at Star Valley that was on Wednesday April 22nd has been changed. The game will now be played in Star Valley on Friday April 17th. The times are still the same at 3:00pm JV and 5:00pm Varsity

Tigers fall in OT to Wolves

Rock Springs jumped to an early lead in the first leg of the Sweetwater cup for a 1 - 0 lead in just the first couple of minutes. The Tigers goal was scored by Austin Mivshek with a Kolby Vasa assist. Green River evened up the score shortly after. The Tigers scored again in the first half after an Erik Mata goal from a Kyle Howe assist. At the half the Tigers had a 2 to 1 lead. By the 71st minute the Wolves scored twice to take a 3 to 2 lead. Ron Halstead tied the game up from a Gilbert Gonzalez assist in the 73rd minute. Regulation ended at 3 goals a piece, and the two teams played two 10 minute overtime periods. Green River scored in the first of the two overtime periods and hung on for the rest of overtime and the 4 to 3 win. Varsity (0 - 3 - 2) Next up for the JV and Varsity at Casper Natrona Friday at 3:00pm and 5:00pm
